The OASYS Radar system is comprised of three main components: the antenna/gimbal assembly, the cockpit display, and the control panel. The antenna/gimbal assembly includes an RF antenna, a scanning gimbal, a central processor, and all system software. The elevation and azimuth motors on the scanning gimbal constantly move the antenna to the scanning area required by the helicopter’s flight path. |

The cockpit display indicates where obstacles are located and signals via a color code the level of danger they represent. The unit is mounted in a suitable location in the aircraft cockpit so as not obstruct the pilot’s view. It is possible to install up a second display in helicopters with large cockpits.

The control panel provides the interface required to operate the system. The control panel is equipped with DSUZ mount screws and is installed in a suitable location in the aircraft cockpit so as to provide the pilot with easy access to the controls.

The antenna/gimbal location should be chosen to provide an unobstructed view, as shown below. To install an OASYS Radar system on a helicopter, the appropriate STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) is required. The STC includes the mount and adapter plate, the external harness, installation instructions, and all necessary hardware.
